e0fc767c11 Display case-sensitive keybindings for vim commands (#24322)
This Pull Request tackles the issue outline in #14287 by changing the
way `KeyBinding`s for vim mode are displayed in the command palette.
It's worth pointing out that this whole thing was pretty much
implemented by Conrad Irwin during a pairing session, I just tried to
clean up some other changes introduced for a different issue, while
improving some comments.

Here's a quick list of the changes introduced:

- Update `KeyBinding` with a new `vim_mode` field to determine whether
the keybinding should be displayed in vim mode.
- Update the way `KeyBinding` is rendered, so as to detect if the
keybinding is for vim mode, if it is, only display keys in uppercase if
they require the shift key.
- Introduce a new global state – `VimStyle(bool)` - use to determine
whether `vim_mode` should be enabled or disabled when creating a new
`KeyBinding` struct. This global state is automatically set by the `vim`
crate whenever vim mode is enabled or disabled.
- Since the app's context is now required when building a `KeyBinding` ,
update a lot of callers to correctly pass this context.

2f741c8686 vim: Fix :wq in multibuffer (#24603)
Supercedes #24561
Closes #21059

Before this change we would skip saving multibuffers regardless of the
save intent. Now we correctly save them.

Along the way:
* Prompt to save when closing the last singleton copy of an item (even
if it's still open in a multibuffer).
* Update our file name prompt to pull out dirty project items from
multibuffers instead of counting multibuffers as untitled files.
* Fix our prompt test helpers to require passing the button name instead
of the index. A few tests were passing invalid responses to save
prompts.
* Refactor the code a bit to hopefully clarify it for the next bug.

Release Notes:

- Fixed edge-cases when closing multiple items including multibuffers.
Previously no prompt was generated when closing an item that was open in
a multibuffer, now you will be prompted.
- vim: Fix :wq in a multibuffer

8c7096f7a6 Rename model based variable names to entity (#24198)
## Context
While looking through the client crate, I noticed that some of the old
functions and variables were still using gpui::model name that was
deprecated during the gpui3 transition. This PR renames those instances
of model to entity to be more inline with gpui3.

In addition, I also renamed `model` to `entity` in cases found by the
below search terms given by @someone13574

- model = cx.
- model: Entity
- model: &Entity
- OpenedModelHandle
- model.update
- model.upgrade
- model = .*\.root (regex)
- parent_model
- model = cx.new
- cx.spawn(move |model

a8741dc310 Migrate more events to telemetry::event! macro (#24102)
I believe this takes care of the remaining events running through the
old flow that requires transformation at the collab server level. I
think all events are now going through `telemetry::event!()`.

For anyone curious where the new telemetry names are coming from, you
can check the `for_snowflake` function within
`crates/collab/src/api/events.rs`, to see how collab is currently
transforming the events going through the old flow.

6fca1d2b0b Eliminate GPUI View, ViewContext, and WindowContext types (#22632)
There's still a bit more work to do on this, but this PR is compiling
(with warnings) after eliminating the key types. When the tasks below
are complete, this will be the new narrative for GPUI:

- `Entity<T>` - This replaces `View<T>`/`Model<T>`. It represents a unit
of state, and if `T` implements `Render`, then `Entity<T>` implements
`Element`.
- `&mut App` This replaces `AppContext` and represents the app.
- `&mut Context<T>` This replaces `ModelContext` and derefs to `App`. It
is provided by the framework when updating an entity.
- `&mut Window` Broken out of `&mut WindowContext` which no longer
exists. Every method that once took `&mut WindowContext` now takes `&mut
Window, &mut App` and every method that took `&mut ViewContext<T>` now
takes `&mut Window, &mut Context<T>`

Not pictured here are the two other failed attempts. It's been quite a
month!

Tasks:

- [x] Remove `View`, `ViewContext`, `WindowContext` and thread through
`Window`
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Redraw window when entities change
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Get examples and Zed running
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Fix Zed rendering
- [x] [@mikayla-maki] Fix todo! macros and comments
- [x] Fix a bug where the editor would not be redrawn because of view
caching
- [x] remove publicness window.notify() and replace with
`AppContext::notify`
- [x] remove `observe_new_window_models`, replace with
`observe_new_models` with an optional window
- [x] Fix a bug where the project panel would not be redrawn because of
the wrong refresh() call being used
- [x] Fix the tests
- [x] Fix warnings by eliminating `Window` params or using `_`
- [x] Fix conflicts
- [x] Simplify generic code where possible
- [x] Rename types
- [ ] Update docs

8c92da45a9 terminal: Add scrollbar (#23256)
Closes #4798

This PR implements a scrollbar for the terminal by turning
`ScrollableHandle` into a trait, allowing us to implement a custom
scroll handle, `TerminalScrollHandle`. It works by converting terminal
lines into pixels that `ScrollableHandle` understands. When
`ScrollableHandle` provides a changed offset (e.g., when you drag the
scrollbar), we convert this pixel offset back into the number of lines
to scroll and update the terminal content accordingly.

While the current version works as expected, I believe the scrollbar's
offset updates could potentially be turned into an event. This event
could then be subscribed to in `TerminalView`, not needing to update the
terminal's offset in the `render` method as it might have performance
implications. Further ideas on this are welcome.

scroll
- [x] Refactor existing scrollbar handle into a trait
- [x] Update terminal to use the scrollbar trait instead of a custom
scrollbar implementation

- Adds the Switch component
- Updates `Selected`, `Selectable` -> `ToggleState`, `Toggleable`
- Adds `checkbox` and `switch` functions to align better with other
elements in our layout system.

We decided not to merge Switch and Checkbox. However, in a followup I'll
introduce a Toggle or AnyToggle enum so we can update
`CheckboxWithLabel` -> `ToggleWithLabel` as this component will work
exactly the same with either a Checkbox or a Switch.

94d8ead270 Refactor Spacing into DynamicSpacing using proc macro (#20504)
Density tracking issue: #18078

This PR refactors our spacing system to use a more flexible and
maintainable approach. We've replaced the static `Spacing` enum with a
dynamically generated `DynamicSpacing` enum using a proc macro.

Enum variants now use a `BaseXX` format, where XX = the pixel value @
default rem size and the default UI density.

For example:

`CustomSpacing::Base16` would return 16px at the default UI scale &
density.

I'd love to find another name other than `Base` that is clear (to avoid
base_10, etc confusion), let me know if you have any ideas!

Changes:

- Introduced a new `derive_dynamic_spacing` proc macro to generate the
`DynamicSpacing` enum
- Updated all usages of `Spacing` to use the new `DynamicSpacing`
- Removed the `custom_spacing` function, mapping previous usages to
appropriate `DynamicSpacing` variants
- Improved documentation and type safety for spacing values

New usage example:

```rust
.child(
    div()
        .flex()
        .flex_none()
        .m(DynamicSpacing::Base04.px(cx))
        .size(DynamicSpacing::Base16.rems(cx))
        .children(icon),
)
```

vs old usage example:

```
.child(
    div()
        .flex()
        .flex_none()
        .m(Spacing::Small.px(cx))
        .size(custom_spacing(px(16.)))
        .children(icon),
)
87ba5fd7bc Rebuild SSH installation (#20220)
Closes #ISSUE
This refactors SSH installation to require less shell stuff. We'd like
to
support arbitrary remote hosts, and unfortunately csh/tcsh have quoting
rules
that make it impossible to run multi-line scripts.
The primary changes are:
* The target path now contains the version:
`./zed_server/zed-remote-server-{release_channel}-{version}`
* We do all our processing in a temporary file and `mv` it into place.
* We do fewer calls to `ssh_command` overall. With the previous two
changes we can avoid lock files, and fuser calls. Instead cleanup of old
binaries now happens in `execute_run`.
* We only try to install the remote server when the connection is
established, not on each project open.
This should also put us in a good position if we want to pre-emptively
install new versions when the auto-updater detects an update for the
running version of zed (but that's not wired up yet)
Release Notes:
- Remoting: Fixed remoting when the remote runs `tcsh`
- Remoting: Improved latency of connecting
95842c7987 gpui: Add scroll anchors (#19894)
## Problem statement
I want to add keyboard navigation support to SSH modal. Doing so is
possible in current landscape, but not particularly ergonomic;
`gpui::ScrollHandle` has `scroll_to_item` API that takes an index of the
item you want to scroll to. The problem is, however, that it only works
with it's immediate children - thus in order to support scrolling via
keyboard you have to bend your UI to have a particular layout. Even when
your list of items is perfectly flat, having decorations inbetween items
is problematic as they are also children of the list, which means that
you either have to maintain the mapping to devise a correct index of an
item that you want to scroll to, or you have to make the decoration a
part of the list item itself, which might render the scrolling imprecise
(you might e.g. not want to scroll to a header, but to a button beneath
it).
## The solution
This PR adds `ScrollAnchor`, a new kind of handle to the gpui. It has a
similar role to that of a ScrollHandle, but instead of tracking how far
along an item has been scrolled, it tracks position of an element
relative to the parent to which a given scroll handle belongs. In short,
it allows us to persist the position of an element in a list of items
and scroll to it even if it's not an immediate children of a container
whose scroll position is tracked via an associated scroll handle.
Additionally this PR adds a new kind of the container to the UI crate
that serves as a convenience wrapper for using ScrollAnchors. This
container provides handlers for `menu::SelectNext` and
`menu::SelectPrev` and figures out which item should be focused next.
