Highlights brackets with different colors based on their depth.
Uses existing tree-sitter queries from brackets.scm to find brackets,
uses theme's accents to color them.
https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/cc5f3aba-22fa-446d-9af7-ba6e772029da
1. Adds `colorize_brackets` language setting that allows, per language
or globally for all languages, to configure whether Zed should color the
brackets for a particular language.
Disabled for all languages by default.
2. Any given language can opt-out a certain bracket pair by amending the
brackets.scm like `("\"" @open "\"" @close) ` -> `(("\"" @open "\""
@close) (#set! rainbow.exclude))`
3. Brackets are using colors from theme accents, which can be overridden
as
```jsonc
"theme_overrides": {
"One Dark": {
"accents": ["#ff69b4", "#7fff00", "#ff1493", "#00ffff", "#ff8c00", "#9400d3"]
}
},
```
Release Notes:
- Added bracket colorization (rainbow brackets) support. Use
`colorize_brackets` language setting to enable.

Before, each editor, even if it's the same buffer split in 2, was
querying for inlay hints separately, and storing the whole inlay hint
twice, in `Editor`'s `display_map` and its `inlay_hint_cache` fields.
Now, instead of `inlay_hint_cache`, each editor maintains a minimal set
of metadata (which area was queried by what task) instead, and all LSP
inlay hint data had been moved into `LspStore`, both local and remote
flavors store the data.
This allows Zed, as long as a buffer is open, to reuse the inlay hint
data similar to how document colors and code lens are now stored and
reused.
Unlike other reused LSP data, inlay hints data is the first one that's
possible to query by document ranges and previous version had issue with
caching and invalidating such ranges already queried for.
The new version re-approaches this by chunking the file into row ranges,
which are queried based on the editors' visible area.
Among the corresponding refactoring, one notable difference in inlays
display are multi buffers: buffers in them are not
[registered](https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#textDocument_didOpen)
in the language server until a caret/selection is placed inside their
excerpts inside the multi buffer.
New inlays code does not query language servers for unregistered
buffers, as servers usually respond with empty responses or errors in
such cases.
Release Notes:
- Reworked inlay hints to be less error-prone

We've been considering removing workspace-hack for a couple reasons:
- Lukas ran into a situation where its build script seemed to be causing
spurious rebuilds. This seems more likely to be a cargo bug than an
issue with workspace-hack itself (given that it has an empty build
script), but we don't necessarily want to take the time to hunt that
down right now.
- Marshall mentioned hakari interacts poorly with automated crate
updates (in our case provided by rennovate) because you'd need to have
`cargo hakari generate && cargo hakari manage-deps` after their changes
and we prefer to not have actions that make commits.
Currently removing workspace-hack causes our workspace to grow from
~1700 to ~2000 crates being built (depending on platform), which is
mainly a problem when you're building the whole workspace or running
tests across the the normal and remote binaries (which is where
feature-unification nets us the most sharing). It doesn't impact
incremental times noticeably when you're just iterating on `-p zed`, and
we'll hopefully get these savings back in the future when
rust-lang/cargo#14774 (which re-implements the functionality of hakari)
is finished.

This adds a "workspace-hack" crate, see
[mozilla's](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/3a265fdc9f33e5946f0ca0a04af73acd7e6d1a39/build/workspace-hack/Cargo.toml#l7)
for a concise explanation of why this is useful. For us in practice this
means that if I were to run all the tests (`cargo nextest r
--workspace`) and then `cargo r`, all the deps from the previous cargo
command will be reused. Before this PR it would rebuild many deps due to
resolving different sets of features for them. For me this frequently
caused long rebuilds when things "should" already be cached.
To avoid manually maintaining our workspace-hack crate, we will use
[cargo hakari](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari) to update the build files
when there's a necessary change. I've added a step to CI that checks
whether the workspace-hack crate is up to date, and instructs you to
re-run `script/update-workspace-hack` when it fails.
Finally, to make sure that people can still depend on crates in our
workspace without pulling in all the workspace deps, we use a `[patch]`
section following [hakari's
instructions](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari/0.9.36/cargo_hakari/patch_directive/index.html)
One possible followup task would be making guppy use our
`rust-toolchain.toml` instead of having to duplicate that list in its
config, I opened an issue for that upstream: guppy-rs/guppy#481.
TODO:
- [x] Fix the extension test failure
- [x] Ensure the dev dependencies aren't being unified by Hakari into
the main dependencies
- [x] Ensure that the remote-server binary continues to not depend on
LibSSL

Also:
* Adds `impl_internal_actions!` for deriving the `Action` trait without
registering.
* Removes some deserializers that immediately fail in favor of
`#[serde(skip)]` on fields where they were used. This also omits them
from the schema.
Release Notes:
- Keymap settings file now has more JSON schema information to inform
`json-language-server` completions and info, particularly for actions
that take input.
Part of https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/14235
* moved search results highlight calculation into the background thread,
with highlight-less representation as a fallback
* show only a part of the line per search result, stop uniting them into
a single line if possible, always trim left trailing whitespaces
* highlight results in batches
* better cache all search result data, related to rendering
* add test infra and fix folding-related issues
* improve entry displays when multi buffer has a buffer search (find
references one has)
* fix cloud notes not showing search matches
Release Notes:
- Improved outline panel performance
Refs #9647
Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/9792
This pull request moves the computation of scrollbar markers off the
main thread, to prevent them from grinding the editor to a halt when we
have a lot of them (e.g., when there are lots of search results on a
large file). With these changes we also avoid generating multiple quads
for adjacent markers, thus fixing an issue where we stop drawing other
primitives because we've drawn too many quads in the scrollbar.
Release Notes:
- Improved editor performance when displaying lots of search results,
diagnostics, or symbol highlights in the scrollbar
([#9792](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/9792)).

Partially implements #9717, persistence between restarts is currently
missing, but I would like to get feedback on the implementation first.
Previously the search history was not saved across different project
searches. As the `SearchHistory` is now maintained inside of the
project, it can be persisted across different project searches.
I also removed the behavior that a new query replaces the previous
search query, if it contains the text of the previous query.
I believe this was only intended to make buffer search work, therefore I
disabled this behavior but only for the project search.
Currently when you navigated through the queries the tab title changed
even if the search was not started, which doesn't make sense to me.
Current behavior:
https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/assets/53836821/1c365702-e93c-4cab-a1eb-0af3fef95476
With this PR the tab header will actually keep the search name until you
start another search again.

Resurrected this from some assistant work I did in Spring of 2023.
- [x] Resurrect streaming responses
- [x] Use streaming responses to enable AI via Zed's servers by default
(but preserve API key option for now)
- [x] Simplify protobuf
- [x] Proxy to OpenAI on zed.dev
- [x] Proxy to Gemini on zed.dev
- [x] Improve UX for switching between openAI and google models
- We current disallow cycling when setting a custom model, but we need a
better solution to keep OpenAI models available while testing the google
ones
- [x] Show remaining tokens correctly for Google models
- [x] Remove semantic index
- [x] Delete `ai` crate
- [x] Cloud front so we can ban abuse
- [x] Rate-limiting
- [x] Fix panic when using inline assistant
- [x] Double check the upgraded `AssistantSettings` are
backwards-compatible
- [x] Add hosted LLM interaction behind a `language-models` feature
flag.
Release Notes:
- We are temporarily removing the semantic index in order to redesign it
from scratch.

This PR moves the Clippy configuration up to the workspace level.
We're using the [`lints`
table](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/workspaces.html#the-lints-table)
to configure the Clippy ruleset in the workspace's `Cargo.toml`.
Each crate in the workspace now has the following in their own
`Cargo.toml` to inherit the lints from the workspace:
```toml
[lints]
workspace = true
```
This allows for configuring rust-analyzer to show Clippy lints in the
editor by using the following configuration in your Zed `settings.json`:
```json
{
"lsp": {
"rust-analyzer": {
"initialization_options": {
"check": {
"command": "clippy"
}
}
}
}
```

This PR upgrades our [`bitflags`](https://crates.io/crates/bitflags)
dependency to v2.4.2.
This also fixes an error that was seen when running `clippy`:
```
error: &-masking with zero
--> crates/fsevent/src/fsevent.rs:19:1
|
19 | / bitflags! {
20 | | #[repr(C)]
21 | | pub struct StreamFlags: u32 {
22 | | const NONE = 0x00000000;
... |
46 | | }
47 | | }
| |_^
|
= help: for further information visit https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/index.html#bad_bit_mask
= note: `#[deny(clippy::bad_bit_mask)]` on by default
= note: this error originates in the macro `__impl_bitflags` which comes from the expansion of the macro `bitflags` (in Nightly builds, run with -Z macro-backtrace for more info)
