ef5b8c6fed Remove workspace-hack (#40216)
We've been considering removing workspace-hack for a couple reasons:
- Lukas ran into a situation where its build script seemed to be causing
spurious rebuilds. This seems more likely to be a cargo bug than an
issue with workspace-hack itself (given that it has an empty build
script), but we don't necessarily want to take the time to hunt that
down right now.
- Marshall mentioned hakari interacts poorly with automated crate
updates (in our case provided by rennovate) because you'd need to have
`cargo hakari generate && cargo hakari manage-deps` after their changes
and we prefer to not have actions that make commits.

Currently removing workspace-hack causes our workspace to grow from
~1700 to ~2000 crates being built (depending on platform), which is
mainly a problem when you're building the whole workspace or running
tests across the the normal and remote binaries (which is where
feature-unification nets us the most sharing). It doesn't impact
incremental times noticeably when you're just iterating on `-p zed`, and
we'll hopefully get these savings back in the future when
rust-lang/cargo#14774 (which re-implements the functionality of hakari)
is finished.

ded6467604 Refactor the scrollbar component (#36105)
Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/37621
Improves https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/24623

Adding scrollbars withing Zed's UI currently is rather cumbersome, as it
requires the copying of a lot of code in order for these to work. Wiring
up settings for scrollbar visibilty always has to be done at the call
site and the state has to be saved and maintained by the caller as well.
Similarly, reserving space has to also be handled by the caller.

This PR changes the way scrollbars work in Zed fundamentally by making
use of the new `use_keyed_state` APIs: Instead of saving the state at
the call site, the window now keeps track of the state corresponding to
scrollbars. This enables us to add scrollbars with e.g. one simple call
on divs:
```rust
div()
    .vertical_scrollbar(window, cx)
```
will add a scrollbar to the corresponding container. There are some more
improvements regarding tracking of scrollbar visibility settings (which
is now handled by a trait for each setting that supports this) as well
as reserving space.
Additionally, all needed stuff for layouting, catching events and
reserving space is also now managed by the scrollbar component instead.
This drastically reduces the amount of event listeners and makes
layouting of two scrollbars easier.

Furthermore, this paves the way for more improvements to scrollbars,
such as graceful auto-hide. Only downsight here is that we lose some
customizability in a few areas. However, once this lands, we gain the
ability to quickly follow these up without breaking stuff elsewhere.

This also already fixes a few bugs:
- Scrollbars no longer flicker on first render.
- Auto-hide now properly works for all scrollbars.
- If the content size changes, the scrollbar is updated on the same
frame. Both of these happened because we were computing the scrollbar
sizes too early, causing us to use the sizes from the previous frame or
unitialized sizes.
- The project panel no longer jumps if scrolled all the way to the
bottom and the scrollbar actually auto-hides.

Still TODO:
- [x] Fix scrolling in the debugger memory view
- [x] Clean up some more in the scrollbar component and reduce clones
there
- [x] Ensure we don't over-notify the entity the scrollbar is rendered
within
- [x] Make sure auto-hide properly works for all cases
- [x] Check whether we want to implement the scrollbar trait for
`UniformList`s as well
    - ~~ [ ] Use for uniformlist where possible~~ Postponed
- [x] Improve layout for cases where we render both scrollbars.

01ec6e0f77 Add workspace-hack (#27277)
This adds a "workspace-hack" crate, see
[mozilla's](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/3a265fdc9f33e5946f0ca0a04af73acd7e6d1a39/build/workspace-hack/Cargo.toml#l7)
for a concise explanation of why this is useful. For us in practice this
means that if I were to run all the tests (`cargo nextest r
--workspace`) and then `cargo r`, all the deps from the previous cargo
command will be reused. Before this PR it would rebuild many deps due to
resolving different sets of features for them. For me this frequently
caused long rebuilds when things "should" already be cached.

To avoid manually maintaining our workspace-hack crate, we will use
[cargo hakari](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari) to update the build files
when there's a necessary change. I've added a step to CI that checks
whether the workspace-hack crate is up to date, and instructs you to
re-run `script/update-workspace-hack` when it fails.

Finally, to make sure that people can still depend on crates in our
workspace without pulling in all the workspace deps, we use a `[patch]`
section following [hakari's
instructions](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari/0.9.36/cargo_hakari/patch_directive/index.html)

One possible followup task would be making guppy use our
`rust-toolchain.toml` instead of having to duplicate that list in its
config, I opened an issue for that upstream: guppy-rs/guppy#481.

TODO:
- [x] Fix the extension test failure
- [x] Ensure the dev dependencies aren't being unified by Hakari into
the main dependencies
- [x] Ensure that the remote-server binary continues to not depend on
LibSSL

6aba3950d2 Improve keymap json schema (#23044)
Also:

* Adds `impl_internal_actions!` for deriving the `Action` trait without
registering.

* Removes some deserializers that immediately fail in favor of
`#[serde(skip)]` on fields where they were used. This also omits them
from the schema.

Release Notes:

`json-language-server` completions and info, particularly for actions
that take input.

cff9ad19f8 Add spawning of tasks without saving them in the task stack (#9951)
These tasks are not considered for reruns with `task::Rerun`.
This PR tears a bunch of stuff up around tasks:
- `menu::SecondaryConfirm` for tasks is gonna spawn a task without
storing it in history instead of being occupied by oneshot tasks. This
is done so that cmd-clicking on the menu item actually does something
meaningful.
- `menu::UseSelectedQuery` got moved into picker, as tasks are it's only
user (and it doesn't really make sense as a menu action).

TODO:
- [x] add release note
- [x] Actually implement the core of this feature, which is spawning a
task without saving it in history, lol.

Fixes #9804
Release Notes:

- Added "fire-and-forget" task spawning; `menu::SecondaryConfirm` in
tasks modal now spawns a task without registering it as the last spawned
task for the purposes of `task::Rerun`. By default you can spawn a task
in this fashion with cmd+enter or by holding cmd and clicking on a task
entry in a list. Spawning oneshots has been rebound to `option-enter`
(under a `picker::ConfirmInput` name). Fixes #9804 (breaking change)
- Moved `menu::UseSelectedQuery` action to `picker` namespace (breaking
change).

6036830049 Throttle the sending of UpdateFollowers messages (#8918)
## Problem

We're trying to figure out why we sometimes see high latency when
collaborating, even though the collab server logs indicate that messages
are not taking long to process.

We think that high volumes of certain types of messages, including
`UpdateFollowers` may cause a lot of messages to queue up, causing
delays before collab sees certain messages.

## Fix

This PR reduces the number of `UpdateFollowers` messages that clients
send to collab when scrolling around or moving the cursor, using a
time-based throttle.

The downside of this change is that scrolling will not be as smooth when
following someone. The advantage is that it will be much easier to keep
up with the stream of updates, since they will be sent much less
frequently.

## Release Notes:

- Fixed slowness that could occur when collaborating due to excessive
messages being sent to support following.

22fe03913c Move Clippy configuration to the workspace level (#8891)
This PR moves the Clippy configuration up to the workspace level.

We're using the [`lints`
table](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/workspaces.html#the-lints-table)
to configure the Clippy ruleset in the workspace's `Cargo.toml`.

Each crate in the workspace now has the following in their own
`Cargo.toml` to inherit the lints from the workspace:

```toml
[lints]
workspace = true
```

This allows for configuring rust-analyzer to show Clippy lints in the
editor by using the following configuration in your Zed `settings.json`:

```json
{
  "lsp": {
    "rust-analyzer": {
      "initialization_options": {
        "check": {
          "command": "clippy"
        }
      }
    }
  }
```
